Happy New Year fellow members and visitors alike!
Only 1 week to go to the opening match of our summer league, I for one cannot wait. As usual I have been busy getting up to allsorts of daft stuff and not doing enough fishing!
That said, the Partridge Winter league was won by the Novartis A.C. team for a second year running. The team represented by Myself, Kenny Weader, Ronnie Kinsella, Dave Durban and Dave Whimperley on the subs bench. Again it was a hard fought battle that went down to the wire in the last round, but this year the other title contenders were the Big Spenders and our very own Weasels. We held our nerve though and defended the title in style.
So a quick look forward to the 2009 summer season. With 24 members again the format of all competitions will remain the same. Division 1 will be even more hard fought with Kevin Polhill joining the elite and Division 2 will be tougher than ever with another couple of newcomers.
As for the membership, we have again lost a couple of the original bunch, two of which have been replaced from the usual waiting list. Therefore I would like to welcome Mr.Davies and Mr.Lennard into our ranks, two previous guests who enjoyed a couple of our matches last year.
As usual the club has managed to maintain a healthy balance of anglers which should help to continue with the good level of banter and competition along the way.
So the stage is set, Whitmore once again being the venue for round 1 on the 6th May. The rumour is that Dave Taylor has spent the most money on tackle over the winter months. “I’m going big this year” was Dave’s quote!
Somehow I think we’ve heard that one before Dave, only time will tell.
